How We Improve Posture at The Markham Gym

Working with my client in The Markham Gym has made me realize the significance of posture in terms of strength, performance, and in everyday activities. Posture is not just about standing straight; rather, it is about maintaining stability in the body through the coordination of muscle groups. At The Markham Gym, we teach posture as an alignment of the core, back, and the whole body while performing any physical activity.
For example, did you know that Core muscles have significance for proper posture formation. One of the abdominal muscles known as the Rectus abdominis is responsible for stabilizing the rib cage, crunching and its counter muscle the erector spinae, allows for backward movement of the trunk, like a lower back crunch. The job of obliques is to prevent lateral movement of the torso. The function of the transverse muscle is to stabilize the spine through its deep brace action.
The muscles of the back are crucial. The erector spinae stabilize the spine and maintain the spine curves. The rhomboids draw the shoulder blades back and ensure the chest remains open. Mid trapezius maintains the neutral alignment of shoulder blades. Lower trapezius pulls the shoulder blades down to prevent them from shrugging up. Once my client activates these muscles correctly, she will be able to perform her lifts effectively.
Additionally, I teach her proper posture. Proper posture requires proper head positioning, where it rests on top of the neck and shoulders. Her shoulders should be relaxed without rounding. In addition, the natural curve of the spine should remain intact. Her core muscles should engage mildly. Even weight distribution should take place in her feet while maintaining joint alignment throughout the body.
My client at The Markham Gym has progressed significantly due to her training sessions with me. She understands how to activate her core muscles and place her shoulders properly, maintaining proper alignment as she stands and moves. I hope other clients will achieve similar progress.
